BGIA Statistics Overview
The following figures are from 2009, as the BGIA membership ceased collating statistics at this point. The BGIA now provides members with a dashboard document detailing market audit data, consumer survey figures, rounds played, club membership and other information to assist companies with their market analysis and intelligence.
OVER 2.8 MILLION DOZEN GOLF BALLS
In 2009 BGIA members supplied 2.8 million dozen golf balls to the UK market (excluding range balls) which was slightly down on the 2008 figure.
£36 MILLION WORTH OF WOODS
BGIA members supplied over 400,000 woods to the UK market in 2009 valued at more than £36million. These figures include 177,000 Fairway Woods.
OVER 140,000 PUTTERS
Just over 140,000 putters were sold into the UK market in 2009 worth over £7m.
£40 MILLION WORTH OF IRONS
BGIA members supplied over £40m worth of irons into the UK market in 2009. This figure included nearly 130,000 wedges and just under 160,000 hybrid or ‘rescue’ clubs. Hybrids are now a significant part of the market with the value of the product supplied by BGIA members exceeding £8m.
